The MOT is an examination of motor vehicles safety-related systems and tries to ensure that they have not worn to an excessive level which would render the vehicle unsafe for use on the road.
If your car is more than 3 years old it will need an MOT each year to ensure that it meets the minimum road safety and environmental standards.

The MOT was designed to ensure that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old are:

1. Properly maintained, and
2. At least once a year are examined by an authorised MOT testing centre to make sure that they comply with important requirements set by the law.
